Genesis Chapter 24
Genesis Chapter 27
Readings about Rebekah
In chapter 24 I saw God's true blessing. Abraham's servant did what he was supposed to, what his master and God told him to do and God blessed and brought him Rebekah. What an amazing young women, I'm sure she has been waiting for a husband and she was virgin, but old enough to be married. I know how hard that is. She waited on God's timing, and out of the blue he literally brought her the man of her dreams. What's even cooler is in verses 63-67:
"One evening as he was walking and meditating in the fields, he looked up and saw the camels coming. When Rebekah looked up and saw Isaac, she quickly dismounted from her camel. “Who is that man walking through the fields to meet us?” she asked the servantAnd he replied,
“It is my master.” So Rebekah covered her face with her veil.
Then the servant told Isaac everything he had done.
And Isaac brought Rebekah into his mother Sarah’s tent, and she became his wife. He loved her deeply, and she was a special comfort to him after the death of his mother. "
She was obviously attracked to him, and him her. Like God created them for eachother!! and HE DID. I pictured this in my head, and young gorgeous foreign girl riding on a camel, she see's this really Hot young guy and secretly hopes he is the one. Turns out, HE IS. How awesome!!
Wow, God really is amazing.
The second part of the reading shows Rebekah's human female nature as she matures. She is an older wife and has had a ton of kids, probably had an awesome marriage, and then she see's her baby getting gyped in the blessing of the oldest son. She tricks her husband, and in the end loses her son anyway.
How like it for us women to want to take charge, and not let God do the match making , and blessing. Praise God for His wonderous blessings despite our disobediance.
"Your Love oh Lord reaches to the heavens and your faithfulness reaches to the skies."
